Mount Update: The Mountaineers lost both games last weekend to fall to 1-3 on the season. The Mount lost to Howard, 1-0, at home on Friday before dropping a 5-0 decision at Towson on Sunday. The Mount offense has yet to kick in gear this season, scoring just one goal in the first four contests. Goalkeeper Alicia Miller has made 27 saves this season and needs just five to set the Mount's career record for saves.
About the Bison: Bucknell defeated Cornell, 1-0, on Saturday to improve to 2-3 on the season. After losing 1-0 in each of the first three games, Bucknell has rebounded with wins over UMBC (2-1) and Cornell. Liz Dwornik, Chelsey Garkowski and Kayla Yee each have goals for Bucknell this year while Megan DeGennaro has a pair of assists. In goal, Sandita McDermott (0.33 GAA, .909 save percentage) and Colleen Garrehy (1.50 GAA, .800 save percentage) have shared time for the Bison.
The All-Time Series with Bucknell: The Mount's 3-0 win in Lewisburg last year snapped the Bison's nine-game win streak in the all-time series. Bucknell, however, is 9-1 all-time against the Mount, including 4-0 in Emmitsburg, Md.

Last Meeting Between the Schools: Jackie Corley scored her first collegiate goal to spark the Mount to a 3-0 win at Bucknell last season. Corley's goal started a run of three goals in a span of nine minutes and 11 seconds to help the Mount to its first-ever win over the Bison. Sarah Malpezzi scored on a header off a corner kick just 2:44 later and Kelly Baker's goal provided the Mount with a 3-0 lead. Sadie Winship added a pair of assist for the Mountaineers as well.
Iona Game Rescheduled: The Mount's game at Iona that was postponed due to Hurricane Irene has been rescheduled. The Mountaineers will visit the Gaels on Sunday, September 25, for a 4:00 p.m. kick-off in New Rochelle, N.Y.
On the Cusp: Senior goalkeeper Alicia Miller needs five more saves to become the Mount's all-time leader in career saves. Miller has 346 saves in her Mount career, trailing Anna Lebo (2004-07), who had 350 for the Mountaineers. Miller also ranks fifth in career goals against average (2.01) and sixth save percentage (.757). She already owns the school record for 55 career starts in goal while her 57 games played are two behind Lebo's school record for goalkeepers. Miller's 1.19 goals against average last season was the third-best single-season mark in Mount history.
Inside the Numbers: The Mount has scored one goal over the first four games this season, an average of 0.25 per game…Last year, the Mount scored 16 goals in 19 games (0.84 per game)…Despite the lack of goals, the Mount has the advantage in corner kicks (19-to-16) over the four games this year and has been outshot 65-to-50...The Mount is just 1-5-2 over its past eight games at Waldron Family Stadium.
Historic Win: The Mount's 1-0 overtime victory over Rider was just the second in a season opener for the Mount women's soccer team. It was also the first time in program history the team has won its season opener on the road. The Mount is now 2-18 all-time in season openers with the other victory coming against Delaware State (10-0) in 2005.
Clean Sheets: Senior goalkeeper Alicia Miller posted her eighth career shutout in the Mount's 1-0 overtime win at Rider. The eighth shutouts are second all-time at the Mount behind Anna Lebo, who had 10 shutouts from 2004-07.
Winship Moving Up Scoring List: Senior forward Sadie Winship has moved into a tie for 10th-place on the Mount's all-time points list. Winship, who has 10 goals and five assists in her Mount career, is tied for ninth all-time in goals scored.
Extra Time: Mount St. Mary's has gone into overtime twice this season and in four of the past seven games dating back to last year. The Mount opened the year with a 1-0 overtime win at Rider on a Sadie Winship free kick before falling to Saint Jospeh's, 1-0, on a free kick in overtime. The Mountaineers are now 4-6-6 in overtime games under head coach Tom Gosselin.
Youth in the Lineup: Head coach Tom Gosselin has had five different freshman start this season. Kristina Caravelli and Melissa Rowan have appeared in the starting 11 in each of the first four games while MacKenzie Buckwalter (three), Alicia Mirando (two) and Cara Deegan (one) have also made starts.
Doubling Up: Courtney Zingle, a second team All-Northeast Conference pick in softball, and Meaghan Conlon, a member of the Mount's women's lacrosse team, each made their debuts in a Mount women's soccer uniform at Towson. Zingle, who hit .338 as a senior last season for the Mount softball team, is a fifth-year senior. Conlon, a junior, had nine goals and four assists while starting in all 18 games for the Mount women's lacrosse team last year.
Preseason Poll: The Mount was picked to finish 10th in the annual Northeast Conference Preseason Coaches poll.
Head Coach Tom Gosselin: Mount St. Mary's head coach Tom Gosselin is in his fifth season at the helm of the Mount's women's soccer program.
