MOUNT UPDATE: Mount St. Mary's snapped a
17-game losing streak by sweeping a doubleheader against visiting
Maryland-Eastern Shore on Thursday. Mark Quaranta's walk-off
three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh lifted the Mount to a
7-4 win in the opening game. In game two, Michael Foster had
a grand slam and five RBI in a 13-2 Mount victory.
ABOUT THE BLUE DEVILS Duke enters
Sunday's twinbill with a 21-26 record. The Blue Devils are
18-11 at home this season, including 12-3 at Jack Coombs Field on
campus. The top two starters, Marcus Stroman (2-4, 3.38 ERA)
and Dennis O'Grady (4-3, 3.97 ERA) are expected to start against
the Mount. Jeff Kremer leads the offense with a .360 average
while Chris Marconcini is hitting .305 with team-highs in doubles
(14), triples (6), home runs (4) and RBI (35).
THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. DUKE: Mount St.
Mary's is 1-5 all-time against Duke in the series that began with a
three-game set in 1999. The mount won the middle game of that
series, 9-5, while falling 10-4 and 9-4 in the other two
games. The two teams also met for a three-game series on Feb.
10-11, 2007. Duke posted 13-10, 8-2 and 10-2 wins in the
three-game series.

the second-best single-season mark in Mount history since the
school moved to Division I in 1989...Michael Foster's grand slam
against UMES was his first home run of the year...Tommy Flynn has
16 doubles this year, good for a tie for sixth on the Mount's
single-season list...Eyler is hitting .433 over the past 18 games
and now leads the squad wit a .345.
