MOUNT UPDATE:  Mount St. Mary's is coming off a four-game sweep at the hands of Long Island this past weekend.  The Mount let a 9-0 lead slip away in an 11-9 loss in the final game of the series Sunday.  Mount St. Mary's has now lost 17 games in a row, the longest losing streak by a Mount team since the move to NCAA Division I in 1989.  A bright spot for the Mountaineers has been starting pitcher Max Brittenham, who has tossed seven consecutive complete games.  He is the first Mount player to achieve that feat in the Mount's Division I era.  Senior Shane Eyler has been hot at the plate for the Mount, hitting .415 over the past 16 games to take over the team lead with a .333 average.

ABOUT THE HAWKS:  Maryland-Eastern Shore enters Thursday's doubleheader with an 8-35 record.  The Hawks lost all three games of its MEAC series with Bethune-Cookman last weekend.  Bryan Chaikowsky leads the team with a .370 average, nine triples, six home runs and 34 RBI.  Tre-Von Johnson is hitting .329 with 19 RBI while James Newsome has a .280 average with 25 RBI.  On the mound, Matt Witte is 3-6 with a 4.68 ERA in 65.1 innings of work.  Bernard Parker leads the team with 20 appearances and has a 5.29 ERA in 32.1 innings.

THE ALL-TIME SERIES vs. MARYLAND-EASTERN SHORE:  Mount St. Mary's swept a twinbill at UMES on March 15 and now holds a 22-4 lead in the all-time series with the Hawks.  The Mount has won the past nine matchups between the two schools and is 8-0 all-time at home against the Hawks.

EARLIER THIS YEAR:  The Mount St. Mary's baseball team swept a doubleheader at Maryland-Eastern Shore on March 15.  The Mount rallied for an 8-7 win in 10 innings in the opener before posting a 15-4 victory in the nightcap. Mark Quaranta provided the heroics in the opening game, tying the game with an RBI double in the eighth and knocking in the winning run with a double in the top of the 10th inning.  Quaranta finished the game 4-for-6 at the plate with two doubles and two RBI for the Mount.  Trailing 7-6 in the top of the eighth, Sam Nott and Andrew Caron had back-to-back walks to open the inning.  After Shane Eyler flew out, Quaranta doubled to left to plate Nott with the tying run.  Caron was thrown out at home on the play trying to score the go-ahead run. In the top of the 10th, Eyler singled with two outs and scored when Quaranta ripped a shot to right-center field to plate Eyler with the winning run.  The Mountaineers wasted little time taking control in the second game, scoring eight runs in the top of the first en route to a 15-4 win.  Michael Foster was 5-for-5 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI to pace the Mountaineers while Tommy Flynn was 3-for-5 with five runs scored and a pair of RBI.  Zach Helman added a 3-for-4 game with three RBI while Quaranta, Caron and Tom Healy each had a pair of hits in the victory.
