Shane Eyler Reaches 200 Career Hits in 11-2 Loss to Bucknell

Box Score

Mount St. Mary's lost at Bucknell, 11-2, in a non-conference baseball matchup on Tuesday afternoon.  Senior Shane Eyler went 2-for-3 at the plate in the game to reach 200 career hits.

Eyler became the second player in Mount history to reach 200 career hits with a fifth inning single.  Josh Vittek (2005-08) holds the Mount's all-time hit record with 231.

The Mount took a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second when Sam Nott walked, moved to second on a wild pitch, and scored on an Eyler single.

Matt Lamore led off the bottom of the second for Bucknell (21-24) to even the score.  David Duffett had a sacrifice fly in the third and took control with three runs in the fifth that included a two-run double by Brett Ashley.  Travis Clark hit a three-run homer in a four-run seventh for the Bison.

The Mount (12-25) added an unearned run in the top of the ninth for an 11-2 loss.

Eyler went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Mount offense that collected just four hits in the game.  On the mound, starter Marshall Thomason struck out six while allowing five runs in 4.2 innings of work.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action tomorrow at UMBC with a 6:05 p.m. game.
