Women's Soccer Falls To Central Connecticut State In Overtime, 2-1

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - Central Connecticut State scored in the 99th minute to down Mount St. Mary's 2-1 in Northeast Conference (NEC) women's soccer action on Friday.

Sadie Winship (York, Pa./Eastern York) scored her first goal of the year for the Mount (3-7-3, 0-3-1 NEC) while Alicia Miller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) made seven saves in the loss.

Brittany Jackson netted the game-winner for the Blue Devils (5-7-1, 1-2-1 NEC) off Allison Kelley's second assist of the afternoon. Kerriann Welch notched her third tally of the year and Nikola Deiter turned away three shots in the winning effort.

Central Connecticut State scored in overtime after nearly coming away with the victory in regulation. Mount St. Mary's scored with 2:35 left in the match to force the extra session.

Jackson took a pass from Kelley and nailed her shot across the net to the lower left corner at the 98:19 mark for the decisive marker.

Welch gave the Blue Devils an early 1-0 advantage when she scored off a Kelley assist at 13:22.

The score stayed that way until the closing minutes of the match when Winship took a shot outside the box and beat Deiter to the lower left of the goal for the equalizer at the 87:25 mark. Central Connecticut State then scored in the 99th minute to come away with the victory. The Mountaineers did not have a scoring chance before the Blue Devils notched the decisive tally in the extra session.

Mount St. Mary's returns to action on Sunday at Quinnipiac. Match time is 1 p.m.
