Box Score

Emmitsburg, Md. (October 29, 2010)--Senior Jenna Stern (Millersville, Md./Old Mill) scored with 17 seconds left in the first overtime to lift Mount St. Mary's to a 2-1 overtime win over Bryant on Friday afternoon.

Freshman Ragan Cote (Myrtle Beach, S.C./Myrtle Beach) started the game-winning play by hustling down the left sideline and pushing the ball to Kelly Baker (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) on the endline.  Baker found Stern open near the top of the penalty box and and she scored the game-winner to the lower left corner of the goal.

Stern, who scored her first collegiate goal in her 71st career game last Friday, finished her career by scoring twice over the past three games.

Bryant (5-12-2, 3-5-1 NEC) took the lead in the 34th minute when Alison Melley beat starting Mount goalkeeper Amanda Kitzmiller (Mine Hill, N.J./Morris Catholic) with a nice shot from 18 yards out inside the left post.

The Mount evened the score with 1:32 left in the half when freshman Tierney Carabba (Erdenheim, Pa./Springfield Township) collected a nice through ball from Jourdan Brill (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and slipped the ball past the keeper for her first collegiate goal.

Mount St. Mary's had a chance to win the game in regulation when graduate student Kaylyn Mahon (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) had her shot into an empty goal blocked by defender Casey Schifano.

In the first overtime, Cote had a chance to end the game when she broke in one-on-one with Bryant goalkeeper Lauren Viverito, but she pushed her shot high.

Playing with a strong wind advantage in the first half, Bryant held an 8-to-4 advantage in shots in the opening half.  The Mount got the wind advantage in the second half and the first overtime, outshooting Bryant 11-to-5 the rest of the way.

Junior goalkeeper Alicia Miller (Lititz, Pa./Warwick) came into the game at halftime for the Mount, making four saves in 54:23 to earn the win.  Kitzmiller made three saves in the opening half.  Viverito made four saves in the loss.
