Mount Men's Team Finishes 10th at Navy Invitational; Mount Women Place 13th at Salty Dog Invitational

Annapolis, Md. (September 13, 2008)--The Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team placed 10th at the Navy Invitational on Saturday afternoon while the Mount women were 13th at Navy's Salty Dog Invitational. The Mount's Kyle Ryan (New Market, Md./Linganore) finished 32nd overall in the field to pace the Mount men's team.

Ryan finished the 8K Course with a time of 26:41.10 to pace the Mount for the second meet in a row. Freshman Dylan Bernard (Frederick, Md./Urbana) continued his strong season, finishing as the Mount's second-fastest finisher for the second straight meet. Senior Matt Logie (Germantown, Md./Northwest) was one spot behind Bernard in 52nd place in the meet in his first action of the season. Logie is a three-time All-Northeast Conference selection. Morgan Sowell (Frederick, Md./Frederick) and William Mitchell (Laurel, Md./DeMatha Catholic) rounded out the men's top five.

Navy took home first place at the meet with 64 points, followed by Richmond (80), Maryland (85), Malone (99) and Virginia Commonwealth (126). The Mount was 10th with 291 points.

In the women's race, Liz Kessler (Mount Laurel, N.J./Paul VI) was the Mount's top performer, finishing 80th overall with a time of 26:16 for the 6K Course. Jessica Rafeedie (Germantown, Md./Northwest) placed 10 spots behind Kessler as the Mount's second-fastest finisher. Samantha Willox (Kent Island, Md./Kent Island), Molly Clark (Middleboro, Mass./Coyle and Cassidy) and Brianne Vozzella (Hershey, Pa./Lower Dauphin) rounded out the Mount's top five.

Richmond took first place at the meet with 42 points, followed by host Navy (55), Maryland (75), Malone (127) and Furman (157). The Mount was 13th in the field with 353 points.

The Mount returns to action on Friday, Sept. 19, at 5:00 p.m. at the Monmouth Invitational.
