Senior Josh Vittek (Eldersburg, Md./Liberty) has been named the
Akadema/Northeast Conference Player of the Week. A first baseman,
Vittek hit .455 with four home runs and 14 RBI in six games last
week. In the process, Vittek broke the Mount's all-time home run
record.
Vittek's four home runs give him 31 for his career, besting the old
mark of 28 held by Will Vanjonack (1997-99). Vittek drove in at
least two runs in each of the first five games last week, including
six in a 4-for-5 game against Coppin State last Monday.
Vittek, who leads the NEC with seven home runs, is hitting .340
with seven home runs and 26 RBI this season.
The Mount returns to action tomorrow against Maryland-Eastern Shore
at 3 pm at Straw Family Stadium on campus.
