West Palm Beach, Fla. (February
28, 2008)--Mount St. Mary's lost to St. Bonaventure, 10-2,
on Thursday to fall to 0-3 on the season. Brandon Woods and Mike
Matta each had an RBI in the loss for the Mount.
The Bonnies got on the scoreboard first
with a two-run single by Anthony Randich. Richard Pilliterri added
an RBI single in the second for a 3-0 lead before the Mount got on
the board in the bottom half of the inning. Josh Vittek reached on
catcher's interference and later scored when Mike Matta reached
base on an error.
St. Bonaventure added a pair of runs in
the top of the fourth to extend the lead to 5-1. The Mount cut the
deficit to 5-2 when Woods drove home Joe Diserio with a single to
center field. The Bonnies, however, scored once in the sixth, once
in the eighth and three times in the ninth to seal the win.
The Mount was held to five hits in the
contest. Starting pitcher Jimmy Mudgett allowed three runs in
three innings, walking six. Colin Stuver had a scoreless inning of
relief for the Mount.
Mount St. Mary's returns to action today
against Mercyhurst.
