Matt Logie Earns All-NEC Honors as Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at NEC Championships

New Britain, Conn. (October 27, 2007)--Junior Matt Logie (Germantown, Md./Northwest) earned All-Northeast Conference for the third straight year to lead the Mount St. Mary's men's cross country team to a fourth-place finish at the NEC Championships on Saturday. Liz Kessler (Mount Laurel, N.J./Paul VI) paced the women's team to an eighth-place finish by finishing 16th overall.

Logie completed the 8K course in a time of 26:42.5 to finish seventh overall. It is the third-straight year the junior has earned All-League honors by finishing in the top 14. Junior Morgan Sowell (Frederick, Md./Frederick) finished 15th in the field with a time of 27:08.1, missing All-League honors by just 2.5 seconds. Justin Brackett (Point Pleasant, N.J./Toms River North) was 22nd with a time of 27:24.3 while Kyle Ryan (New Market, Md./Linganore) placed 23rd with a mark of 27:26.6.

Quinnipiac had four runners place in the top-14, finishing with 31 points. Monmouth took second with 84 points, and Sacred Heart placed third with 95 points. Mount St. Mary's (108) came in fourth, while St. Francis (PA) completed the top-five with a 133-point effort. Wagner (151), Robert Morris (178), Central Connecticut (185), Fairleigh Dickinson (235), Long Island (268) and St. Francis (NY), which had 285 points, closed out the field.

Kessler finished the 5K course with a time of 19:13.7 to place 17th overall in the field. She just missed earning All-League honors as the top 14 finishers were named to the All-NEC team. Jessica Rafeedie (Germantown, Md./Northwest) and Maura Tipping (Lansdowne, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) finished 46th and 47th, respectively, for the Mount at the event.

Quinnipiac had seven runners finish in the top-14, each earning all-conference accolades while also leading the Bobcats to the team title. Monmouth had two all-conference performers in its second place finish. St. Francis (PA), which scored 109 points, Sacred Heart (111) and Robert Morris (136) rounded out the top-five. Central Connecticut's 144-point effort was good for sixth, while Wagner (164), Mount St. Mary's (215), Long Island (252), St. Francis (NY), which had 300 points, and Fairleigh Dickinson (340) completed the field.
