Ryan Defibaugh is set to begin his third season as an Assistant Coach for the Mount St. Mary's women’s soccer team in 2015.
Defibaugh, who has extensive experience coaching the men’s and women’s game, previous worked as an assistant for Mount Head Coach Tom Gosselin while both were at McDaniel. He served as an assistant coach for the men’s and women’s soccer teams at McDaniel from 2003-05, including two seasons on Gosselin’s staff. While with the Green Terror, he assisted with training the goalkeepers, as well as the recruiting efforts, and administrative duties.
In 2006, Defibaugh made the jump to Division I as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Penn State. He spent four seasons with the Nittany Lions from 2006-09. During his final season in 2009, the team compiled a 12-8-2 mark and earned a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
Defibaugh was a four-year starting goalkeeper for McDaniel’s soccer team from 1998-2001. He was a two-time All-Centennial Conference honoree and an All-Mid-Atlantic Region selection before moving into coaching upon graduation in 2002.
Defibaugh returned to McDaniel as an assistant on the men’s staff for the 2010 season. In 2012, he worked for Thunder Soccer Club in Howard County, Md. and currently works for Potomac Soccer Club in Potomac, Md.
The Rockville, Md., native graduated from McDaniel with a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education in 2002. In 2005, he completed his Master's Degree in Sports Administration at McDaniel.
