Ed begins his fourth year as a chaplain at Mount St. Mary’s University in 2015-16, and his third with the Women’s Soccer team having previously served the Men’s and Women’s Golf Teams in 2013.
Ed, a 2007 graduate of Lansing High School just outside of Ithaca, New York played soccer and golf where he was a two-time All-State selection in golf. After high school, Ed was recruited to play golf at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas where he was a three-year captain and two time all Heartland Conference selection. During his college career, Ed won two tournaments as an individual and was a member of four team tournament wins, including the 2011 Heartland Conference Tournament. During his tenure, Ed and the Newman Men’s Golf team qualified for two NCAA Tournament berths in 2010 and 2011 respectively.
Ed graduated from Newman University in 2010 with a degree in Business Management, and again in 2011 with a Masters in Business Administration. After graduation, he entered the seminary for the Diocese of Wichita, Kansas where he began at the Mount in August of 2011. Currently in his fourth year at the Mount, Ed hopes to be ordained to the Catholic Priesthood in May of 2017. In 2014, he joined the Mount Women’s soccer team after being inspired by the critically acclaimed film Bend It Like Beckham.
Ed, the son of Michael and Michaleen Herzog was born in Ithaca, New York with his two younger brothers, Harrison (22) and Clinton (18). In his free time, he is a member of the reigning champion Mount St. Mary’s Seminary Soccer Team where he plays goalkeeper, he also enjoys traveling and backpacking in the nation’s numerous National Parks.
