Mount St. Mary's University

Travis Ponton is in his first season as theDirector of Basketball Operations for the Mount St. Mary’swomen’s basketball team in 2013-14.

“I’m really blessed and excited to be part of theprogram,” Ponton said. “I’ve known Coach (Bryan)Whitten and Coach (Josh) Keys for a little while now, and I’mexcited about the opportunity.”

Ponton arrives at the Mount with extensive experience at thehigh school level. Most recently, Ponton served as the varsitygirl’s assistant coach at Colonial Heights High School inColonial Heights, Va. during the 2011-12 and 2012-13 seasons.

Prior to his time at Colonial Heights, Ponton made coachingstops at Cosby High School in Midlothian, Va. and Radford HighSchool in Radford, Va.

Ponton also worked as a reporter at CBS 6 News in Richmond, Va.before making his way to the Mount. 

Ponton graduated from Radford in 2009 with a degree in mediastudies.
