Keys made an immediate impact upon his arrival Emmitsburg, helping lead the Mount to the NEC Semifinals in his first two seasons. After posting a 15-16 record in year one in 2012-13, the Mountaineers put together their first winning season since 2000-01 with a 19-14 record in 2013-14. The year was also highlighted by the Mount’s first trip to the WNIT, marking the third postseason appearance in the program’s Division I history.
At the Mount, Keys is involved with all aspects of the program, working closely with the post players and serving as the team’s recruiting coordinator.
Keys made his way to the Mount after serving as an assistant coach at Stetson University in 2011-12, helping to guide the Hatters to a school-record 23 wins. In 2009-10, the Cougars advanced to their first-ever Division I postseason. While at the College of Charleston, Keys helped develop two all-conference, three all-tournament and one all-freshman performer.
A 2007 graduate of Liberty University, Keys got his start in coaching as the women's basketball head coach at New Covenant School in Lynchburg, Va. In his two seasons, Keys posted a 25-19 record, including an 18-5 mark in 2006-07 that was an 11-game improvement from his first season. In addition, in his second season his team reached the VACA Final Four. During his time at New Covenant, he coached a two-time All-VACA First Team honoree.
Keys also earned his MBA from Liberty in 2010 and graduated magna cum laude.
