Brianna Gauthier will begin her fourth seasonas an assistant coach at her alma mater under head coach BryanWhitten in 2013-14.
Gauthier and the Mount are coming off a 15-16 season thatincluded a trip to the Northeast Conference Semifinals for thefirst time since the 2000-01 campaign.
During the 2011-12 season, Gauthier helped the Mount to asix-game improvement after the Mountaineers posted a 14-16 overallmark and a 10-8 record in league play. It was the most overall winssince the 2008-09 year and the squad's first winning mark in thecircuit since 2006-07.
Gauthier has played with or coached four 1,000-point scorers atthe Mount. She has also coached two All-Northeast Conferencesecond-team selections as well as one All-NEC Tournament Teampick.
Gauthier returned to Mount St. Mary's before the start of the2010-11 season after serving as an assistant coach at NorwichUniversity, a Division III program in Vermont. She joined formerMount women's basketball assistant coach Mark Zacher in his firstseason as head coach of the Cadets and helped the team to a 20-8overall record and 10-2 in conference play. Norwich advanced to theconference championship game and received an invite to the ECACChampionships.
She coached one Defensive Player of the Year, one All-Conferencesecond-team and one All-Conference third-team selection atNorwich.
Gauthier was a four-year letterwinner for the Mount women'sbasketball team from 2005-2009. She ended her career 18th inprogram history in all-time career points (1,128), second in3-pointers made (164), second in 3-pointers attempted (490) andninth in assists (335) and first in games played (119) and gamesstarted (116). She scored a career-high 32 points in her finalregular season game against Bryant to earn Northeast Conferenceco-Player of the Week honors. A three-year team captain, she wasnamed to the NEC All-Rookie team in her freshman year. Gauthier wasrecognized by the Mount Athletics department with the Kolon Award,which goes to the student-athlete who, through hard work anddetermination, earned the respect and admiration of his or herfellow athletes and coaches.
She also joined the Mount women's lacrosse team in her senioryear and was selected as the Rookie of the Week once.
After graduation, Gauthier played professionally in Swedenbefore joining the Norwich coaching staff in 2009-10.
She earned her Master’s in Business Administration fromthe Mount in 2012.
