Served as captain-elect of the Mount St. Mary’s 1932 Football team. When first joining the team, Edelen began playing the in backfield and soon moved his way up the field with the help of coach Arthur Malloy
Served as pitcher for the baseball team, using a variety of pitches to achieve success.
One of five Mount St. Mary's baseball players to play in the Major Leagues. Appeared in a pair of games for Washington during the 1932 season.
