EMMITSBURG, MD (September 8, 2026) – Another strong defensive performance for Mount St. Mary's men's soccer gave the team its third draw in as many home games, earning a 0-0 final against Navy.
Goalie
Lars Almankaars made his first career start and earned the clean sheet with three saves. The back line of starters
Oliver Jorgensen,
Noah Kaiser,
Jayson Salvador, and
Thomas Dix, along with substitute
Anthony Fanelli, limited the Navy Midshipmen to eight shots.
The Mount's offense finished with nine shots, three of which were on goal.
Leo Romero Sonesson,
Felix Alschner, and
Oliver Barta all forced the hand of Navy netminder Sam Clark.
With the result, the Mount is 0-2-3 on the season and draws with Navy in back-to-back years.
HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED
- Alschner supplied the first test of the match, delivering his shot on goal in the 12th minute.
- Romero Sonesson got the second shot on goal as the Mount outpaced Navy on shots, 8-2, for the first half.
- Camden Marquette hit a header that went over a bar by a few inches to almost put the Mount up at halftime.
- Almankaars passed all three of his tests in the second half. He saved shots by Nick Gallucci in the 46th minute, Jack Illig in the 60th minute, and Ryan Skandalis in the 84th minute.
