Marquette Equalizes Contest on Final Shot as Mount Men’s Soccer Draws with Delaware

NEWARK, DE (September 12, 2026) – On their last shot of the game, Mount St. Mary's junior Camden Marquette secured a draw, heading in the equalizer with five seconds to go as the Mount tied Delaware, 2-2.

The impressive finish granted the Mountaineers their fourth draw this season, and they are now 0-2-4 this year.

Daniel Morales Silva scored his first collegiate goal as well, supplying the team's initial strike of the contest. Christian Kyriacou assisted on the Morales Silva goal, and Anthony Fanelli assisted on Marquette's equalizer. Both earned their first collegiate assists.

HOW THE MATCH UNFOLDED
  • Morales Silva gave the Mount a 1-0 lead with an upper right corner strike in the 29th minute.
  • The Mountaineers tested Delaware several times with shots on goal. Blue Hens keeper Eric Wildrick denied almost every shot for seven saves on the night.
  • An unusual moment occurred early in the second half. Delaware was awarded an indirect free kick a couple feet from paydirt. The entire Mount defense lined the goal and made a successful block of the shot attempt.
  • Freddy Jeffreys tied the game in the 69th minute off a free kick. Ten minutes later, Frederik Flaskager gave the Blue Hens a 2-1 lead.
  • With one last chance, Fanelli planted a cross from the right side that found Marquette's head. The Lock Haven transfer buried the shot beyond Wildrick for his first Division I goal.
