EMMITSBURG, MD (September 29, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer shuffles up to Buffalo for a match with Canisius Wednesday.  
 
MOUNT UPDATE
 
For the first time since 1994 the Mountaineers posted back-to-back matches of four goals, defeating Marist 4-3 and Iona 4-0 to open Metro Conference play at 2-0. A victory Wednesday would mark the program's first 3-0 start since 1999, a year where the Mount went 8-1-1 in Northeast Conference play.
 
Christian Kyriacou had a brace in the Iona game, scoring twice on the way to Metro Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Ryan Collins got the clean sheet with a two-save shutout in goal, winning Metro Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Kyriacou is tied with Daniel Morales Silva for the team lead in goals with three and tied with Lincoln Bauer at seven points. Bauer's point total comes from five assists, which leads the Metro.
 
SCOUTING THE GOLDEN GRIFFINS
 
2026 has been tough for Canisius, holding a 1-7 record. Metro play has also been unfriendly to the Griffs, being outscored 10-2 in defeats to Iona and Rider. The team does have 10 goals, led by four from Romero Nicolazzo. Preston Harold has 31 saves in net.
 
SERIES HISTORY
 
Mount St. Mary's and Canisius have met every season since the Mountaineers joined the Metro. Including last season, the Mount has won three meetings out of four. They are 1-1 in Buffalo.

Returning home on Saturday (Oct. 3), the Mount hosts Merrimack for a 4 PM showdown. The contest is at Waldron Family Stadium at the PNC Sports Complex.
