EMMITSBURG, MD (October 30, 2026) – Heading into the final regular season contest of 2026, Mount St. Mary's men's soccer has a glimmer of hope remaining to clinch a postseason berth. The first step towards that goal is to secure a third Metro Conference victory this season as they battle Saint Peter's.
MOUNT UPDATE
Abou Cherif scored a first half goal in last Wednesday's match versus Niagara, but the Purple Eagles were able to equalize in the second half, and the contest ended in a 1-1 draw. This is the eighth draw for the team this year, far and away the school record for a single season.
Cherif becomes the fourth Mountaineer to register his third goal in 2026, joining
Lincoln Bauer,
Christian Kyriacou, and
Daniel Morales Silva. Bauer assisted on Cherif's strike to earn his sixth assist of the year, and the freshman continues to lead the Mount with 12 points.
Ryan Collins added six saves to bring his season total to 52.
SCOUTING THE PEACOCKS
A promising season for the Peacocks took a hit with two road losses at Sacred Heart and Marist. Saint Peter's can score with 18 goals this season, led by nine by Connall McEarlain. In the net, Sebastian Heredia-Randen has 55 saves and a .733 percentage, playing every minute in goal.
SERIES HISTORY
Through eight matches, Mount St. Mary's and Saint Peter's are at an even 4-4 split. The Peacocks took the last two meetings, winning both contests by 3-1 scores.
UP NEXT
Saturday concludes the regular season. Should the Mount stay alive, they will have to wait and see as the regular season wraps up for everyone else on November 4. If the team does clinch a spot, the opening round of the Metro Championship is set for November 7.
