HAMDEN, Conn. (April 24, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's claimed a game one win in the Nutmeg State against Quinnipiac on Friday afternoon, besting the Bobcats 11-1. With the win, the Mountaineers inch back to a .500 record, improving to an 11-11 record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.
The Mount struck in succession during the top of the second and third innings as
David Stokely doubled to left field, sending
Bryce Rudisill home to score before
Alex Mendes sent out another double to left to drive in
Christian Bauman an inning later for a 2-0 lead. Later in the top of the fourth,
Mike Toth flew out to left field for a sacrifice fly to
Ty Fredo before
Cameron Biller doubled to right, scoring
Carson Clark.
Quinnipiac scored their only run of the game in the bottom half of the fourth to cut the deficit to three. But in the top half of the seventh,
Phoenix Williams doubled, scoring Bauman again before a
Ty Fredo single scored Williams and Mendes for a 8-1 lead.
Mount St. Mary's added on in the eighth as
Mike Toth scored on a balk before a Bauman double to right center scored
Ryan McKay. The Mount rounded the game off in the top of the ninth as Fredo homered followed by a McKay sacrifice fly that scored Stokely.
Fredo led the Mount from the plate against Quinnipiac, going 3-5 with three, RBIs, two runs scored, and a home run. Both Meier and Mendes notched two-hit days against the Bobcats in game one. Accredited with his third win of the year,
Serigne Sarre notched seven strikeouts through five and a third innings on the mound while only allowing one earned run. Both maximus McCrary and
Jackson Snyder featured from the bullpen in game one, with Snyder notching two strikeouts in two innings of relief work.
