April 15, 2026--Mount St. Mary's freshman Eirini Tsakiri collected Jersey Mike's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week honors, announced today by the MAAC.  Tsakiri helped the Mount to a 2-1 record tihs week with victories over Wagner and Fairfield.

Tsakiri went 2-1 in singles play and 2-1 in doubles action in three matches this week. Tsakiri, playing at No. 2 singles, earned an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Wagner while cruising to a 6-1, 6-2 win against Fairfield. Her loss came against Quinnipiac. Tsakiri teamed with Margherita Trolese for wins at No. 3 doubles against Wagner (6-1) and Fairfield (6-4) while the duo was edged by a Quinnipiac pair (6-4).

For the season, Tsakiri is now 12-11 in singles action, including a 4-2 mark in MAAC matches.  In doubles, she has posted an 11-12 record on the year.  

The Mountaineers have won nine of their past 10 matches to improve to 11-8 overall and 4-2 in the MAAC.  The Mount is currently in a three-way tie for second place in the MAAC standings with the top four teams advancing to the MAAC Championships on April 25-26 at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
