EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 28, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's rugby delivered a dominant all-around performance on Saturday, defeating St. Thomas, 48–12, at Echo Field. Behind a balanced scoring effort and a clinical display from the boot of
Logan Wild, the Mount pulled away after halftime to secure the convincing victory.
Mount St. Mary's wasted little time getting on the scoreboard, striking in the 7th minute as Raylon Murray broke through the St. Thomas defense for a try.
Logan Wild added the conversion to give the Mount an early 7–0 advantage. The momentum continued just six minutes later when
Isaiah Williams crossed the line for another try, extending the lead to 12–0.
St. Thomas responded with a try in the 17th minute to cut into the deficit, and later added another score in the 33rd minute, converting to bring the score within striking distance at 12–12. However, the Mount answered just before halftime, as Murray recorded his second try of the match in the 35th minute. Wild once again converted, sending Mount St. Mary's into the break with a 19–12 lead.
The second half belonged entirely to the Mount. In the 48th minute,
Trey Fields finished off a strong attacking sequence with a try, followed by another successful conversion from Wild. Less than seven minutes later,
Chase Brown added to the lead with a try of his own, and Wild remained perfect off the tee to push the score to 33–12. Wild continued to make his presence felt in all phases, adding a penalty kick in the 64th minute to extend the Mount's advantage. He then capped off his standout performance with a try in the 70th minute, converting his own score to further widen the gap.
Mount St. Mary's closed out the scoring in the 78th minute when
Simon Rossi powered over for a late try, sealing the 48–12 victory. Murray led the Mount with two tries, while Fields, Brown, Williams, Wild, and Rossi each contributed a try in a well-rounded offensive effort. Wild was instrumental throughout, accounting for multiple conversions and a penalty kick to anchor the Mount's scoring output.
