Flag Football Nets First Conference Carolinas Win in Saturday Split

BANNER ELK, N.C. (March 28, 2026) – With a 51-13 victory over Mars Hill, Mount St. Mary's flag football earned their first victory in Conference Carolinas (CC) play this season. The win was part of a split Saturday for the team, coupled with a defeat to Lees-McCrae.

Annabelle Haught was a major factor in both games, but especially in the win, scoring three touchdowns and passing to teammates for two more. Jayanna Goines, Alyssa Lane, Keira Speikes and Jenna Dick all contributed touchdowns in the win as well. Dick added two touchdown passes, as did Jordyn Dodson-Jenson. The trio of quarterbacks combined for 424 yards through the air across both games.

On defense, Chloe Lover-Omar supplied 11 tackles, including eight in the win with four sacks. Haught finished with three interceptions – two against Mars Hill and one against Lees-McCrae. Madison Kean matched Haught for the tackle lead in the second game.

By virtue of the split, the Mount stands at 4-7 for the season (1-4 CC).
