Fairfield, Conn. (March 21, 2026)—Mount St. Mary's earned a split in today's Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference doubleheader at Fairfield. After dropping a 4-0 decision in the opening game, the Mount rebounded to post a 5-2 win in the nightcap. The Mount is now 6-18 overall and 3-2 in the MAAC.
GAME 1: Fairfield 4, Mount St. Mary's 0
Peyton Shields limited the Mount to four hits to lead Fairfield to a 4-0 win the opening game of the twinbill.
Ellie Meier allowed just one hit in 2.2 innings of scoreless relief to pace the Mount in the game.
The Stags scored twice in the second and twice in the fourth to secure the win. The Mount's best scoring chances came in the third and fourth innings, putting a pair of runners on base in each frame.

Lia Festa each had a hit in the game. Starting pitcher
Sophia Schmehl took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) in 3.1 innings.
GAME 2: Mount St. Mary's 5, Fairfield 2
The Mount earned a split of today's doubleheader with a 5-2 win in the second game.
Avery Dinges had three hits and two steals while Tawney had two hits and two RBI to pace the Mount offense in the victory. Meier earned the complete-game victory.
The Mountaineers got the scoring started with a pair of runs in the top of the first inning. Dinges singled to start the rally, and Del Giorno followed with a double. An error on the center field allowed Dinges to scamper home with the first run. Tawney followed with an RBI single to plate Del Giorno for the 2-0 advantage.
In the second,
Sharon Manni singled, stole second, and moved to third on a
Taylor Williams base hit. Dinges then singled home Manni to make it 3-0. The Mount added to the lead in the third when
Kelsie Bandelow walked and Festa singled to set the table for Manni, who brought in Bandelow with an RBI single.
The Mount added another run in the fourth when Dinges singled, stole second, and then scored on a Tawney base hit. Fairfield added single runs in the fourth and fifth, but it was not enough as the Mount earned the victory.
Dinges finished the game 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs scored while Tawney was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Manni chipped in a 2-for-2 day as the Mount pounded out 11 hits in the game. Meier struck out four while allowing five hits and two runs.
The Mountaineers return to action on Tuesday with a 1:00 p.m. MAAC doubleheader against Marist.
