EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 21, 2026) – In their first exposure to play against Conference Carolinas (CC) competition, Mount St. Mary's flag football fell 32-6 to host Ferrum before dropping a 7-0 defensive slugfest to Emmanuel, which served as the first CC league game.
With the results, the Mount are 3-4 for the season.
Although it was a group effort on defense,
Keira Speikes and
Annabelle Haught had the biggest statistical achievement. Speikes finished with 11 tackles, four sacks, and an interception. Haught registered 10 tackles and compiled two interceptions.
The receiving game led the way for the offense.
Jenna Dick passed for 258 yards during the day.
Jayanna Goines had the most receptions against Ferrum, and
Alyssa Lane had the most against Emmanuel.
GAME 1: Ferrum 32, Mount St. Mary's 6
The Panthers took command of the contest in the first half, going up 20-0 on the Mountaineers. After a scoreless third quarter, Ferrum added two more scores to lead by 32. Dick found Goines in the closing seconds with a touchdown pass to fend out the shutout.
GAME 2: Emmanuel 7, Mount St. Mary's 0
Both defenses made statements in a contest that featured only one score. Of the Mount's 28 tackles, eight went for losses. Speikes earned three of her four sacks, with two more from
Chloe Lover-Omar. Haught added a 24-yard pick as well. A touchdown pass by the Lions in the second quarter marked the lone instance where an offense cracked through.
