EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 14, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's baseball ended in the win column during the Saturday matinee showdown with Canisius, securing the series win with a final score of 10-9 while holding off a late push from the Golden Griffins in the top part of the inning. With the win, the Mountaineers even their record to 8-8 while finally clinching a positive record in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with a 3-2 record.
Canisius jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first before
Sam Meyer sent out a three-run shot to left field to give the Mount a 3-2 lead at the end of the first inning. Canisius regained a 4-3 lead later in the top of the second before the Mountaineer bats came back to work in the bottom half of the inning.
Evan Meier drove in
Ryan McKay with a single through the right side of the infield to tie the game before
Christian Bauman drove in
Carson Clark to take a 5-4 lead. With two runners on,
Bryce Rudisill hit out a towering three-run homer un to right field, sending the Mountaineers into the top of the third with a 8-4 lead.
Over the next six innings, Canisus clawed their way back into the game while the Mount put two more runs up on the board, sending the Mount into the field during the top of the ninth with a 10-6 lead. The Golden Griffins scored three runs in the top of the ninth to make things close, but
JB Manarchuck produced a sacrifice fly and a flyout to get the Mount out of the inning with their first conference series win on the year.
Rudisill, McKay, and Clark all produced three-hit days against Canisius on Saturday, with Rudisill recording another three-RBI day at the plate. Meyer recorded a three-RBI outing with his homerun while McKay, Meier, and Bauman all recorded solo efforts on the RBI front.
Earning his second win of the year,
Eli DeRossi threw five and two-thirds on the mound while striking out four.
Maximus McCrary threw two and two-thirds of relief while Manarchuck earned his third save on the year for his efforts in the top of the ninth.
