EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 13, 2026) – Offenses were clicking Friday at a blustery E.T. Straw Family Stadium as Mount St. Mary's baseball prevailed 17-10 over Canisius.
Every hitter in the Mountaineers' starting lineup registered a base hit, and seven on them had multi-hit efforts. Five home runs left the yard, including shots from
Alex Mendes and
Joey Agar. The duo each tallied four RBIs for the day.
On the mound, five pitchers combined for 12 strikeouts.
Maximus McCrary had four strikeouts over 1 2/3 innings to earn the win, and
JB Manarchuck pitched the final three innings to earn the save.
With the win, the Mount improves to 7-8 and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- Canisius took the early lead with a pair of two-run innings by the middle of the third.
- Ty Fredo homered in the second for the Mount's first run, and a double by Mendes and a sacrifice fly from Bryce Rudisill accounted for two runs in the third.
- Nine runs crossed the plate for the Mountaineers in the fifth. Mendes homered to plate three runs, followed by bombs from Rudisill and Agar. RBI singles from Evan Meier and Christian Bauman completed the inning.
- Down 13-4, Canisius strung together a rally to pull within 13-10. Manarchuck came in and retired the side to stop the rally.
- Agar hit a triple to extend the Mount's lead in the eighth, and add-on RBIs from Meier and Bauman provided insurance.
