Mount Baseball Takes Control in Late Innings to Sweep Norfolk State

EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 1, 2026) – From the fifth inning on, Mount St. Mary's baseball was in control in the series finale against Norfolk State, leading to a decisive 24-7 win to sweep the three-game set.

Batters for the Mount collected 23 hits and earned eight walks on the afternoon. Bryce Rudisill went 5-for-7 at the dish, while the trio of Christian Bauman, Ty Fredo, and Alex Mendes drove in a combined 16 runs with Bauman earning six RBIs and scoring five runs. Six members of the starting lineup had multi-hit games, as did Evan Meier, who came in as a substitute.

Pitchers combined to strike out 12 Spartans. Jakob Foster logged three innings with no earned runs to receive the win. He, Owen Crowe, Jackson Snyder, and Riley Williams registered three strikeouts each.

Bauman made the first impression on offense with a three-run homer in the third inning. Norfolk State were able to counter with small ball to lead 4-3 after four innings. In the fifth, the Mount tied the game on a David Stokely sacrifice fly. Rudisill and Mendes followed with RBI base knocks to put the visitors ahead 6-4.

A four-run inning put the contest firmly in the Mount's corner, capped off by another two-run single from Mendes for a 10-4 lead. They would put runs on the board every inning the rest of the way – one more in the seventh, another four spot in the eighth, and nine runs in the ninth.

Mount St. Mary's has a 5-5 record for the season with the result.
