Five Score in Double Figures to Lead Mount St. Mary's to 83-76 Win at Iona

New Rochelle, N.Y. (February 7, 2026)--Mount St. Mary's had five players score in double figures to lead the way in an 83-76 victory at Iona on Saturday night.  Trey Deveaux and Luke McEldon each scored 17 points, Arlandus Keyes added 15, Abdou Khadre Kebe 12 and Anthony Arrington, Jr. 11 in the win.  The victory moves the Mount to 11-15 overall and 7-8 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.

In a nip-and-tuck first half that featured 10 lead changes and three ties, it was the Mount that had the last surge for a 39-34 lead at the break.  With the score tied at 29-20, Arrington, Jr. hit a pair of free throws and McEldon scored in the paint for a 33-29 lead.  After an Iona basket by Denver Anglin, Arrington, Jr., connected from long distance for a 36-31 advantage.  Iona's Luke Jungers made a three-pointer, but the Mount's Deveaux countered with a triple of his own to give the Mount a 39-34 lead at the half.

The first part of the second half saw the Mount balance the lead between one and five points.  Leading 51-50, Keyes drained a three-pointer and Deveaux hit a pair of free throws to push the Mount's margin to six at 56-50.  Iona narrowed the deficit to 61-58, but Keyes hit another clutch three-pointer to push the lead back to six with just over six minutes remaining.  McEldon then took over down the stretch, scoring seven consecutive points for the Mount for a 75-63 lead with 2:53 left in the game.  From there, the Mount was able to close out the win.

McEldon, who leads the MAAC in field goal percentage, was 7-for-9 from the field in the game en route to his 17-point night.  Deveaux was 6-for-12 on the day while also chipping in 17 markers.  Khadre Kebe finished with 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds for the Mount, posting his first career double-double.  Kebe is averaging 11.5 points and 12.5 rebounds over the past two games.  Keyes went 5-for-8 from three-point range for all 15 of his points in the game.  It is the fourth time this season that Keyes has made five or more three-pointers in a game.  Arrington, Jr., added 11 points off the bench for his best scoring output this season.  Point guard Xavier Lipscomb had eight points and a team-best eight assists.  Lamin Sabally led Iona with 20 points and 11 boards with CJ Anthony chipping in 14 points and eight assists in the loss.

The Mount shot 50.0 percent (25-of-50) from the field in the game, including 11-of-28 (.393) from three-point range.  The Mount held a 36-to-29 edge on the boards while holding Iona to 42.4 percent (25-of-59) from the field.  The Mount was 22-of-30 (.733) at the foul line in the win.

GAME NOTES
  • The Mount had five players reach double figures in scoring for the first time since December 3 in an 87-80 loss to Sacred Heart.
  • Kebe's 16 rebounds are the most by a Mount player since Jedy Cordilia had 18 at Merrimack on January 3, 2025.  He is the third Mount player to post a double-double this year, joining Justin Amadi and Trey Deveaux.
  • Deveaux needs 14 points to reach 1,000 points for his collegiate career.  Deveaux scored 463 points at Wayne State in 2023-24, 262 at Western Illinois last year, and has 261 this
    season for the Mountaineers.
  • The win moves the Mount into seventh place in the MAAC standings with a 7-8 mark.  The Mount trails Fairfield (8-7) by one game for sixth place with the top six teams earning a First Round bye at the MAAC Tournament which will be held in Atlantic City, N.J. on March 5-10.  The Mount is a half-game ahead of Iona (6-8) and a full game ahead of Manhattan (6-9) and Sacred Heart (6-9).
  • The Mount swept the season series with Iona and has now won three in a row against the Gaels.  Iona holds a 7-5 lead in the all-time series.
