Kraszewski, Molchanoff Earn Hat Tricks, but Women’s Lacrosse Fall to Towson in Opener

EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 6, 2026) – Seven members of the Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse team contributed a goal or assist on offense in their season opener, but the Mountaineers fell to the Towson Tigers 14-11. 
 
Brooke Molchanoff picked up where she left off from her freshman year, leading the team in points with three goals and an assist. Ava Kraszewski made an immediate impact in her collegiate debut with a hat trick of her own. Hailey Chester scored twice and supplied four of the team's 13 draw controls.

  
Towson received a pair of four-goal efforts from Hannah Lewis and Ocea Leavy.
 
THE TALE OF THE TAPE
  • Molchanoff kicked off the season with a free position shot at the 12:14 mark of the first quarter.
  • Goals by Maddie Malfa and Kraszewski kept the Mount a pace ahead.
  • Towson took their first lead on Lewis' second goal with 4:27 remaining in the first.
  • Morgan Baird scored a late second quarter goal to make the score 5-4 Tigers at the half.
  • Molchanoff and Chester provided free position goals for a 6-5 Mount lead midway through the third period.
  • A goal by Valerie Thompson opened a 9-6 lead, capping off a 3-1 run.
  • Kraszewski and Haylee Bittinger's first collegiate goal brought to 9-8 before the Tigers tacked on a final goal to lead 10-8 entering the fourth.
  • Mount was unable to pull closer than two goals the rest of the way. Chester had the final goal with 1:33 to go.
Next up for the Mountaineers is a February 14 contest at Duquesne.
