MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's saw its four-game win streak come to an end with a 77-69 loss at Sacred Heart on Friday night. Luke McEldon (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Xavier Lipscomb (10 points, 10 rebounds) each had a double-double in the loss while Arlandus Keyes finished with 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Sacred Heart outscored the Mount, 46-37, in the second half to rally for the victory. Â
- This will be the first meeting between the Mount and Fairfield this season. The teams split last year's series with each winning at home. The Stags hold a 5-2 lead in the all-time series, including a 3-0 record at home. The Mountaineers are 1-5 against Fairfield in MAAC regular season games with the lone win coming at the Mount, 101-94, on Dec. 8, 2024.
- The Mount is in seventh place in the MAAC standings with a 10-9 league record, one game behind Fairfield and Quinnipiac who are tied for fifth at 11-8. Mount St. Mary's will earn the No. 6 seed in the MAAC Tournament with a victory while Fairfield can finish anywhere from the No. 4 thru No. 6 seed with a win. The loser will be the No. 7 seed an play on Thursday night at 8:30 p.m.
- The Mount's matchup with Fairfield will feature two of the hottest teams in the MAAC down the stretch. Since January 17, Merrimack has the MAAC's best record at 10-2, followed by the Mount, Fairfield and Siena, who are all 8-4 over that stretch.
- Mount St. Mary's leads the MAAC in field goal percentage defense in league play, holding the opposition to 38.8 percent shooting in 19 MAAC contests.
- Luke McEldon (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Xavier Lipscomb (10 points, 10 rebounds) each recorded a double-double in the loss to Sacred Heart on Friday night. It is the first time the Mount has had two players record a double-double in the same game since Terrell Ard Jr. (12 points, 14 rebounds) and Jedy Cordilia (14 points, 11 rebounds) against Notre Dame of Maryland in last year's season opener on Nov. 4, 2024. Â
- Arlandus Keyes had 17 points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals against Sacred Heart. Keyes is averaging 15.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 5.3 assists and 5.0 steals over the past three games.
- Up next, the Mount will head to the 2026 MAAC Tournament which will be held March 5-10 at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J. A Mount win on Sunday against Fairfield will have the Mount as the No. 6 seed with a game on Saturday, March 7, at 8:30 p.m. A loss will give the Mount the No. 7 seed a a game on Thursday, March 5, at 8:30 p.m.
