EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 25, 2026) – With seven goals in the final 15 minutes, Mount St. Mary's earned a hard-fought victory over George Washington Wednesday.
Shannon McTavish secured a hat trick for the Mount to lead the team and matched her career high of 12 draw controls. McTavish led a group of seven Mountaineers who scored, including multi-goal scorers
Peyton Sims and
Brooke Molchanoff.
On defense,
Camille Thomas registered seven saves in net.
Hailey Chester made a significant contribution of three caused turnovers and three ground balls.
HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED
- McTavish and MK Allingham led a strong first quarter for the Mount, who took a 3-1 advantage.
- The Revolutionaries went on a 4-0 run into the early moments of the third quarter to go ahead 5-3. They kept the Mountaineers at arm's length until there were nine minutes remaining.
- Sims helped lead the charge, scoring with 8:14 to go. After Haylee Bittinger earned the game-tying goal, Sims puts the Mount ahead with 5:24 left. The goals were part of a 6-0 run to put the contest away.
