MOUNT STORY LINES
- Mount St. Mary's stretched its win streak to three with a 76-63 win over Niagara on Friday night at Knott Arena. Luke McEldon scored a career-high 25 points while Arlandus Keyes added 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals to lead the way. Mount St. Mary's shot 53.4 percent in the win, including 18-of-29 (.621) in the second half.
- Mount St. Mary's defeated Canisius, 78-68, on January 17 in Buffalo to take a 7-2 lead in the all-time series. The Mount is 5-1 against the Golden Griffins in MAAC regular season matchups, including a 2-0 mark at Knott Arena.
- Mount St. Mary's clinched a spot in the MAAC Tournament on Friday night and is currently tied with Fairfield for sixth place in the MAAC standings with an 9-8 league mark. Iona (8-9), Manhattan (8-10) and Sacred Heart (8-10) are chasing a spot in the top six as well. The top six teams in the MAAC standings earn a First Round bye in the MAAC Tournament which will be held at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, N.J., on March 5-10. Â
- Mount St. Mary's is 7-3 since January 17, tied for the second-best mark in the MAAC over that stretch. Merrimack has a league-best 9-1 record over that span, with the Mount and Siena next with 7-3 marks. Saint Peter's, Quinnipiac, Fairfield and Sacred Heart are all 6-4 since January 17.
- The Mount is allowing 67.3 points over the past 12 contests while holding the opposition to 38.1 percent shooting from the field. The Mountaineers are 8-4 over that stretch, holding seven of the 12 opponents under 39 percent.
- Luke McEldon poured in a career-high 25 points in the Mount's win over Niagara, and is averaging 14.8 points over the past five games. McEldon hit 11-of-12 shots from the field in the win over Niagara, and is now shooting 75.5 percent (34-of-45) over the past five games. Â
- Arlandus Keyes had 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and a career-high six steals in the win over Niagara. He is the first Mountaineer to post 15+ points, 5+ rebounds, 5+ assists and 5+ steals in a game since Jeremy Goode had 22 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and five steals in a 70-58 win over Loyola on Dec. 1, 2007.
