COLUMBIA, Md. (February 21, 2026) – The late innings were unfavorable to Mount St. Mary's Saturday as they concluded their series with the UMass Minutemen. Final scores were 10-6 in game one and 7-5 in game two.
Ty Fredo had the most hits among Mountaineers with three for the day.
Evan Meier added three of the six RBIs in game one. On the mound, starters
Josh Halcisak and
Eli DeRossi combined for 8 1/3 innings and struck out nine batters between the two of them.
GAME ONE
An error by the Minutemen catcher contributed to the Mount's first run, scored by
Alex Mendes. Meier increased the lead to 2-0 with a single scoring
David Stokely. In the fourth, Meier added a two-run double for a 4-1 Mountaineer lead. Down 4-2 in the seventh, UMass strung together with five runs to take over the lead. Homeruns by both teams – Mount's Fredo and UMass' Fox – tacked onto the final score.
GAME TWO
Mendes scored twice to help the Mount jump out to a 3-0 lead. Bauman brought home
Joey Agar to assist in the early edge as well. UMass posted their first run in the third inning but took over in the sixth with a four-spot with two insurance runs in the seventh. The insurance proved vital to offset a
Bryce Rudisill homerun for the Mount.
