EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 17, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's lacrosse returned to Waldron Family Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, winning in high fashion against Queens by a score of 13-10 against the Royals. With the win, the Mountaineers move to 1-1 on the young season while bouncing back from the away loss to LIU on February 6.
The Mountaineers found the net quickly in the first period with
Marcelo Carreiro scoring an unassisted goal with two minutes elapsed from the clock. A Queens goal with four minutes off the clock was canceled out by a goal from
Aidan Kilduff, reestablishing the Mount lead. Kilduff and
Collin Thomson combine for two back-to-back goals with four minutes left in the quarter only for the Royals offensive push finding legs late in the period, scoring three goals and sending the visitors into the first intermission up 5-4.
Carter Quested and
Chris Grimaldi combine for goals to open the period, establishing a 6-5 lead early. After back and forth play for the remainder of the period,
Brody Atkinson found the goal off a pass from
Kevin Whitty, sending the Mountaineers into halftime with a 7-5 lead over the Royals.
A resilient Queens offense opened the scoring in the third period only for Atkinson and Grimaldi to find open space for separate scores again, going up 9-6 with three minutes left in the period. Queens seemed to have scored a buzzer beater to end the third, but a successful challenge from head coach
Chris Ryan deemed the shot to have come after time elapsed, sending the Mount into the final intermission with a steady three-goal lead.
Grimaldi and Atkinson combine for scores to start the period, with both Mountaineers completing their respective hat tricks. Queens recorded two goals after the fact but a score from
Tucker Claxton opened a four-goal lead for the home side. Grimaldi recorded his fourth goal of the game for the Mount with eight minutes in the period, wrapping up a dominant offense that outpaced the opponent's defensive wall.
