EMMITSBURG, Md. (February 1, 2026) – Mount St. Mary's men's basketball held their ground against Manhattan on Sunday afternoon in Knott Arena, outlasting the Jaspers to claim a 72-65 win in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. With the win, the Mount moves to a 6-7 record in conference play while moving to 10-14 on the year, solidifying back-to-back double-digit win seasons for head coach
Donny Lind.
The Mount shot 41.0% from the field, while going 9-24 from beyond the three-point arc and 13-14 from the free-throw line. Of the Mount's 72 points, 30 of them came in the paint against the Jasper's while 19 points were scored by bench players. Mount St. Mary's also converted well on the rebound, scoring 23 second chance points.
Luke McEldon led the way for the Mountaineer scoring threat, posting 14 points against Manhattan, with all of them coming in the paint.
Arlandus Keyes came in second on the point-front, scoring 13 including a triple of three-pointers. Abdou Khadre Kébé led the way on defense, grabbing a team leading seven rebounds as well as posting 10 points.
After a tip-off win for the Mountaineers to start the game, Kébé posted a corner three of an offensive rebound from McEldon, setting the tone for a flurry of three-pointers from both teams on the day. The Mountaineers found themselves with an early yet slim 15-12 lead after eight minutes, thanks to scores from McEldon and
Anthony Arrington, Jr. Manhattan kept things close, keeping the Mount lead at 19-16 through the first 12 minutes. But two made free throws from Keyes cemented a 29-20 lead heading into the locker room at halftime after holding the Jaspers on defense late in the half.
At halftime, Arrington, Jr. led the way with seven points while Lipscomb dished out four assists to teammates and Diop recorded four rebounds.
Trey Deveaux got the scoring started in the second half, scoring on a second chance layup in the paint. Deveaux added to his early start in the second, knocking down a three-pointer on the next possession to take a 10-point lead inside the first minute of the half. But a resilient Manhattan offense, capitalizing on turnovers, cut the Mount's lead down to two points over the next four minutes, sending the Mount into the first media timeout of the half up 39-37.
A quarter of the way through the half, Keyes hit back-to-back three-pointers on his possessions, drawing out a 47-39 lead with 13 minutes left in the half.
Yakhya Diop scored his point on the day after the Senegalese freshman put back a shot, drawing the foul and converting on the and-one. Just like in the first half, Manhattan found steam again on offense, cutting the lead to three, forcing the Mount to take a timeout with 8:37 left.
Coming back onto the court, Kébé received the ball from Lipscomb on the in-bound, taking the ball into the paint and scoring a superman dunk while bringing bedlam to Knott Arena.
After the dunk, the game remained close, as the Jaspers cut the deficit to one point with two and a half minutes left. But McEldon's dominance under the basket proved to powerful for the Manhattan defense, scoring four points inside of a minute to reestablish a two-score lead. After a Mount rebound off a missed three pointer, Lipscomb was fouled, converting on both of his free throws, ending the game and rounding out a gutsy win for the Mount.
