EMMITSBURG, MD (October 9, 2026) – The ninth season of Mount St. Mary's bowling starts this weekend, with the team traveling to the Bud Whitman Memorial, hosted by Wagner College.
THE 2026-27 MOUNTAINEERS
In late July,
Ryan Ventillo was named the third head coach in program history. He joins a program with a 61-36 record from the previous season, including wins at the CSU Lady Eagles Invitational and the Garden State Classic. Ahead of the start of competition,
the team earned a #18 ranking in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) Preseason Poll.

Leah Varela, along with lineup regulars
Piper Chalmers and
Amber Benson. Junior
Mikalah Carter and sophomore
Bethany Jaquith are also back for this season.
Newcomers include Kutztown transfer
Kamryn Brenneman, and true freshmen
Jaysa Ashford-Taylor,
Stephanie Rivera Florentino, and
Madison Smith – who will compete simultaneously on Junior Team USA after winning Junior Gold in July.
MOUNT AT THE BUD WHITMAN
The program's first-ever tournament was the 2018 Bud Whitman, which the team won, going 5-0. They would go on to win the 2021 edition with a 10-0 weekend.
LOOKING AHEAD
October and early November sees two tournaments on the horizon for the Mount. The team competes in the Chelsea Gilliam Penguin Classic in Struthers, Ohio from October 16-18, followed by Destination Florida in Orlando on October 30- November 1.
