Washington, D.C. (January 23, 2026) — The Mount St. Mary's women's tennis team opened the spring season with a 6-1 loss at George Washington on Friday in a non-conference matchup played indoors at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. The Mount falls to 0-1 overall.
George Washington secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. Venus Tang and Bella Pescatore dropped a 6-2 decision at No. 1, while Margherita Trolese and Eirini Tsakiri fell 6-1 at No. 3. The Mount earned a doubles victory at No. 2 as Emma Perkins and Anna Barlini defeated Solange Skeene and Victoria Sasinka, 6-4.
In singles play, the Revolutionaries recorded five victories to clinch the match. George Washington earned straight-set wins at the top four positions, including a 6-2, 6-4 decision at No. 1 singles. Karen Verduzco edged Trolese in a tight two-set match at No. 4.
Mount St. Mary's lone singles point came at No. 5, where Bella Pescatore posted a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Alexandra Lindqvist. The No. 6 match was the longest contest of the day, as Anna Barlini pushed Devika Manu to a super tiebreak before falling 10-8.
