Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Mount St. Mary's Topped by Quinnipiac, 77-62

Emmitsburg, Md. (January 22, 2026)--Mount St. Mary's saw its two-game win streak end with a 77-62 loss to Quinnipiac at Knott Arena on Thursday night.  Luke McEldon paced the Mountaineers with 18 points and five rebounds in the game.  The Mount falls to 8-13 overall and 4-6 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference with the setback.

The Bobcats went to the locker room with a 41-32 lead at the half after a Samson Reilly three-pointer at the buzzer.  Quinnipiac (14-7, 7-3 MAAC) then broke the game open by scoring the first 16 points of the second half to build a 57-32 advantage.  The Mount fought back, using an 11-0 run to cut the deficit to 63-50 after a pair of McEldon free throws with 7:38 left in the game.  McEldon started the run with a bucket in the paint ahead of an Arlandus Keyes three-pointer.  Justin Amadi scored in the paint, and McEldon ended the run by going 3-for-4 at the line to make it a 13-point game.  However, that would be as close as the Mount would get the rest of the way.

McEldon finished 7-of-13 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the line en route to his game-high 18 points.  Keyes hit 4-of-9 from three-point range and finished with 13 points and four boards while Trey Deveaux also reached double figures with 10 points.  Amarri Monroe led Quinnipiac with a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds while Asim Jones (13), Jaden Zimmerman (13) and Grant Randall (10) were also in double figures in the victory.

The Mount jumped out to a 5-0 run before Quinnipiac scored the next 14 points to take an early nine-point lead.  The Mount cut the deficit to 25-20 on an Anastasios Rozakeas three-pointer, but the Bobcats answered with the next five points to regain a double-digit lead.  The Mount was able to cut the deficit to six on four occasions down the stretch in the first half, the final on a McEldon basket that made it 38-32 with 25 seconds left.  The Bobcats, however, got some momentum going into the half when Samson Reilly hit a three-pointer at the halftime buzzer from the left corner.

Mount St. Mary's finished the game shooting 20-of-47 (.426) from the field and 7-of-20 (.350) from three-point range.  Quinnipiac shot 45.9 percent overall (28-of-61) while hitting 10-of-22 (.455) from beyond the arc.  The Mount held a narrow 35-32 edge on the boards in the game.
