EMMITSBURG, Md. (September 21, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's men's soccer had a successful start to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play Sunday, using a second half comeback to take the win over Merrimack, 4-3.
Three goal scorers powered the Mountaineers to the victory.
Graham Dougald registered a brace with a pair of penalties.
Isaiah Garcia converted the game winner with a goal in the 82
nd minute, picking a clutch time to score his first goal at the Mount.
Sherwin Chen got his first goal in a Mountaineers uniform too, providing some much needed momentum at the end of the opening half by closing the match to 3-2.
On defense, the Mount locked down in the second half, allowing only three shots to the Warriors with one landing on goal.
Sunday's win marks the third straight season that Mount St. Mary's begins MAAC play with a win. They defeated the Warriors 2-1 last year, and Fairfield in 2023. It also serves as the first four-goal game for the program since October 2022, when that year's team defeated Saint Peter's 4-3.
This coming Saturday (Sept. 27), the Mount returns home to face the Red Foxes of Marist University. Kickoff is at 4 p.m. from Waldron Family Stadium.
