Rudisill Punctuates Rally as Mount Baseball Secures Series Win Over Quinnipiac

EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 4, 2025) – With the rubber game of the series tied at 7-7 entering the bottom of the eighth, Mount St. Mary's infielder Bryce Rudisill delivered the go-ahead double as the Mountaineers defeated Quinnipiac 10-7, taking the series two games to one. The Mount is now 19-27 for the season and improves to 11-13 in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play.

Alex Mendes and Nolan Book got on base and executed a double steal to put themselves in prime position for Rudisill's double. The extra base knock secured two of the redshirt freshman's four RBIs for the day, bumping his season total to 29. Rudisill would score on a wild pitch for the Mount's ultimate run.

The eighth inning rally was set up by a sixth inning comeback with tied the contest at 7-7. Several Mountaineers played a role as four runs came in quick succession. Sam Grube brought home Mateo Zeppieri for the first run, and Grube strode home off a Rudisill sacrifice fly. Evan Smith hit a single to plate Mendes, and Kyle Cincinnati whacked a single up the middle which scored Book to tie the contest.

Shutdown work out of the bullpen by Ryan Brown and Josh Halcisak allowed for the offense to complete the comeback and then preserved the win. Halcisak earned his fifth victory of the campaign.

For offensive totals, Evan Meier joined Book and Rudisill with a multi-hit game. Mendes reached base in every at-bat but one, scoring three times and drawing three walks.

In terms of MAAC standings, Mount St. Mary's is in seventh place.

Seven games remain in the 2025 regular season. With no midweek games on the schedule, the Mount focuses on their next MAAC opponent – Saint Peter's. Games begin Friday (May 9) in Jersey City.
