JERSEY CITY, N.J. (May 10, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball won the first game of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series with Saint Peter's by a score of 7-5. With the win against the Peacocks, the Mountaineers inch closer to a .500 record in the MAAC, going 12-13 with five conference games to go while improving to a 20-27 record.
The Mount scoring efforts started early in the game when
Joey Agar sacrifice fly in the top of the second scored
Nolan Book. Agar's sac fly was followed up in the bottom of the third as
Ty Fredo was walked with the bases loaded, driving in
Sam Grube for a 2-0 lead.
After the Peacocks scored a run in the bottom of the third, two runs were driven in by the Mount in the top of the fourth off the bats of
Bryce Rudisill and
Alex Mendes to take a 4-1 lead. In the top of the sixth, an
Evan Smith single to left field that scored Book was swiftly followed up by another bases loaded walk drawn by
Evan Meier that scored
Mateo Zeppieri.
Taking a narrow 6-5 lead into the top of the ninth,
Nick Fleming hit out a long ball, rounding out the Mountaineer scoring efforts and completing the team's twelfth conference win of the 2025 campaign.
Serigne Sarre was accredited with his fifth win of the year in addition to his 11 strikeouts in six innings of work.
Josh Halcisak featured for an inning and two thirds while recording two strikeouts. And
Maximus McCrary was accredited with his second save of the year after going an inning and a third with a strikeout.
