EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 3, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost game two of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series against Quinnipiac by a score of 17-11. With the loss, the Mount falls to overall record of 18-27 with a conference record of 10-13.
An early 3-0 Bobcat lead was canceled out by the Mountaineers in the bottom of the third as
Bryce Rudisill hit out a three-run home run to tie the game at 3-3. An
Alex Mendes sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth scored
Sam Grube to grab the Mount's first lead of the game at 4-3.
A four-spot of runs came across the plate in the top of the fifth by the Bobcats, only to be outdone by a five run inning from the Mountaineers in the bottom of the inning. The scoring started with a
Evan Smith sent a two-run home run out to leftfield, driving in Rudisill to cut the deficit to 7-6. After a Quinnipiac pitching change,
Mateo Zeppieri sent a single up the middle that scored Grube and Agar, grabbing a 8-7 lead. A double steal trick play was called in the bottom half of the inning that scored Mendes to round off a five-run Mountaineer fifth inning.
But a nine-run, top of the seventh from Quinnipiac stunted the Mountaineer run game from the plate, as the Bobcats grabbed a 17-9 lead in the top half of the inning. The Mount scoring efforts were rounded off by a Mendes single in the bottom half of three seventh that scored
Evan Meier and a
Jake Maske sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth that scored Rudisill, rounding of the Mountaineer innings.
