EMMITSBURG, Md. (May 2, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball won the first game of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series against Quinnipiac by a score of 11-8 on Friday. With the win, the Mountaineers move to a MAAC record of 10-12 with an overall record of 18-26.
A first-inning Bobcat home run was canceled out by a
Nolan Book double in the bottom of the inning that scored
Sam Grube. In the bottom of the second,
Evan Smith scored from third on a wild pitch from the pitcher, followed by a Grube sacrifice fly that scored
Joey Agar. Quinnipiac leveled the game in the top of the fourth only for Grube to once more knock in two more runners on a single to take a 5-3 lead.
Quinnipiac regained the lead in the top of the sixth after Chris Smith hit a go-ahead three-run home run to take a 7-5 lead.
Ty Fredo hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Book in the top of the seventh followed by a Smith single that scored
Bryce Rudisill and a wild pitch that scored Smith from third to take an 8-7 lead. Another Bobcats home run drew the game level in the top of the eighth only for a Smith single scoring Book retaking the lead for the Mount later in the inning. Agar laid down a squeeze bunt later in the inning that scored Rudisill followed by a Paddy Hebda single that scored Smith, completing a eighth inning comeback for the Mount.
