ANNAPOLIS, Md. (April 9, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball was victorious in their Wednesday match up against the United States Naval Academy, beating the Midshipmen by a score of 11-1 in Annapolis. With the win, the Mount moves to a 14-17 record on the season right before their trip to the Midwest to face Michigan in Ann Arbor this weekend.
The Mountaineers jumped out to an early one-run lead in the top of the first after a double steal set in motion by
Bryce Rudisill scored
Nolan Book.
Ty Fredo went on to score on a fielder's choice in the top of the third followed by an
Ethan Flaugher single that scored Book and a
Mateo Zeppieri sacrifice fly that batted in Rudisill. After Navy got on the board in the bottom of the third, three more Mountaineer runs came across the plate in the next half inning. To start the inning,
Sam Grube doubled down the right field line to score
Kyle Cincinnati followed by a Book single to center field that scored
Jacob Slusarski. To end the inning, Zeppieri was hit by a pitch to walk in Grube to end another three-run inning for the Mount.
Book reached base on a fielder's choice in the top of the fifth, scoring Slusarski again followed by an
Evan Meier single to centerfield that scored Zeppieri in the top of the sixth. The scores did not move through the seventh and eighth inning, but in the top of the ninth, Grube singled to center field, scoring Cincinnati followed by a
Sam Dinitz single that scored Slusarski, rounding out the win for the Mountaineers.
Maximus McCrary was accredited with his second win of the year after the junior hurled 3.0 innings of two hit baseball while striking out five Midshipmen.
