LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (April 5, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's baseball lost the third and final game of their Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference series to Rider on Saturday by a score of 6-4. With the loss, the Mountaineers slid back below .500 in MAAC play with a record of 7-8 and an overall record of 13-17.
Nolan Book started the scoring in the top of the first as the freshman flew out to left field, scoring
Sam Grube on the sacrifice fly. After their run in the first inning, the Mountaineers offense laid silent while the Broncs put up four runs within the second and third innings. In the top of the fifth, Grube reached base on an error committed by the first baseman while
Evan Meier scored on the error. Two more runs for Rider came across the plate in the sixth and seventh innings before the Mount launched their last scoring efforts. In the top of the ninth, both Grube and
Evan Smith were walked with bases loaded, driving in
Ethan Flaugher and
Bryce Rudisill respectively before the series finished in Lawrenceville.
Grube, Flaugher, Smith and
Mateo Zeppieri all notched hits against Rider on Saturday, with Grube also working three walks and knocking in three RBIs.
Jakob Foster was accredited with the loss on the day, moving his record to 1-1 with three strikeouts against Rider.
Eli DeRossi featured from the bull pen in game three, throwing 5.0 innings of two-hit baseball while recording four strikeouts.
