Offense Scores Season High in Goals as Mount Women’s Lacrosse Bests Rider

EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 2, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse matched the potent offense of the Rider Broncs, outlasting their competitors 17-15 Wednesday in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. With the win, the Mountaineers are now 7-4 on the season and 3-0 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

A quartet of players secured hat tricks in the game, led by four-goal efforts from Anna Salerno and Anna McQuay. Mackenzi Furlong posted three goals, as did Brooke Molchanoff, securing her first college hat trick. Furlong procured the most points with six, adding three assists.

The trio of Hailey Chester, Brooke Molchanoff, and Molly Molchanoff attained possessions for the Mount with 17 draw controls. Chester led the group with seven, followed by Brooke's six and Molly's four.

Trailing after the opening quarter, Mount St. Mary's stormed back in the second with six goals. A 4-0 run with a pair of finishes from Furlong, and goals by Madison Harmening and Brooke Molchanoff generated a 9-8 halftime advantage.

McQuay and Logan Cook set the second half tone with goals to open the third period. This allowed for enough of a cushion to withstand a couple of Rider comebacks. With the Mount holding on a 15-14 edge, final tallies from McQuay and Harmening iced the contest.

For Mount St. Mary's, the victory marks their 3-0 conference start since the 2021 season, when they went 11-0 in the Northeast Conference.

Returning to Emmitsburg Saturday, the Mount welcomes Fairfield to Waldron Family Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m. and combines a men's game against Canisius at noon for a doubleheader
