EMMITSBURG, Md. (April 18, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's lacrosse is in line to earn the top seed at the upcoming Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championship, needing a win over Merrimack to seal the spot.

Before the start of the game, the Mount honors seniors Anna Salerno, Molly Molchanoff, Madison Harmening, and Delaney LaRose. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m.

MOUNT UPDATE
  • The Mount moved themselves into prime position for the No. 1 seed with a 12-7 win over Iona this past Wednesday in New Rochelle. Mackenzi Furlong led a trio of players with hat tricks, posting four goals. Salerno and Logan Cook had three goal days.
  • Camille Thomas came within one save of her career high, collecting 12 saves across the Iona game. Together with the defensive unit, the Mount only conceded two goals for the entire second half.
  • Mount St. Mary's seeks a first place finish for the first time since 2021. That year's team defeated Wagner 9-8 in overtime to win the Northeast Conference Championship.

SCOUTING THE WARRIORS
  • Merrimack wraps up their season in Emmitsburg, hoping to spoil the party and collect their first MAAC win. The Warriors' one victory came against Presbyterian on March 12.
  • Lindsay Atkinson is the standout for Merrimack, leading the MAAC in goals per game with 46 for the season. Atkinson also has 24 assists to bring her point total to 70.
  • On defense, Hayley Kowalczyk has the most saves in goal with 72. Mia Juvelier and Kristina Castellano have the most ground balls and caused turnovers between them.

ALL-TIME SERIES

Mount and Merrimack played against each other twice as members of the Northeast Conference. The Mountaineers won both meetings – 20-5 in 2021 and 13-5 in 2022.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

The MAAC Tournament begins on April 25, and the earliest the Mount could play is April 27. If they clinch the No. 1 seed, the team earns a double bye to May 2, with the semifinals and finals taking place in Emmitsburg.
