EMMITSBURG, Md. (March 28, 2025) – Mount St. Mary's women's water polo freshman goalkeeper Becca Engquist was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday.

Engquist played across the Mount's match ups this past weekend against Siena and Marist in Poughkeepsie where she recorded 27 saves in two starts for the Mountaineers, including 18 saves in the team's 13-12 win over Siena. Engquist's efforts in goal against the Saints helped the Mountaineers clinch a spot in the MAAC Women's Water Polo playoffs.

The Freshman from Chicago, Illinois grabbed her second Defensive Player of the Week award of the Year, while fellow goalkeeper Olivia Fernie has also been named to the weekly awards list twice for her efforts in the cage.

The Mountaineers jump back into the pool on April 25 where they will face off against LIU in the first round of the 2025 MAAC Women's Water Polo playoffs in Poughkeepsie.
